[Starfighters]

"Snowflake to all fighters, the Tokyo is going to try and take out that chunk of diamond. Clear a path." Fubuki ordered. She banked hard to port, the last thing she wanted was to be caught in any crossfire.

"Engaging evasive maneuvers," Lynette announced as she followed Fubuki's lead.

The other pilots behind her acknowledged the order and began to swing to either port or starboard. Many of them still firing their phaser cannons as they continued to take out asteroids. However a clear path was now visible and ready for the Tokyo to launch torpedoes.

[USS Tokyo]

The Tokyo launched several torpedoes at the chunk of diamond. They impacted its surface, smashing through the material. However, they only seemed to split the diamond down the middle. One of the chunks veered off deeper into the field, whilst the other began to tumble and spin directly at the Tokyo itself.

"Commander. It's still coming for us..." The officer from Operations reported. "Its too close! If we fire torpedoes, we'll be in the blast radius!"

Lieutenant Yuvek's console lit up with proximity warnings as the diamond chunk's trajectory changed. His eyes tracked the incoming object on the tactical display - massive, spinning, and coming directly at them.

"Contact incoming, starboard side!" he called out, his hands already moving across the helm controls. "Executing evasive manoeuvrers!" The Cardassian Helmsman tried to throw the Tokyo into a hard port roll, trying to present the ship's stronger shield sections to the incoming impact. The carrier was too massive, too slow in her current orientation. Lieutenant Yuvek knew it the moment he initiated the manoeuvrer - they weren't going to dodge this. The best he could do was angle the approach to distribute the impact across multiple shield generators instead of taking it head-on.

"Execute a barrel roll keep the chunk away from vital areas," Thomas ordered, he knew they weren't going to get out unscathed, the diamond was an unforeseen block, and the way it split was quite abnormal. He pressed the comm. "Brace for impact." He ordered as he watched the chunk coming all so closer.

The remaining chunk of diamond, smashed against the Tokyo's shields. They flickered violently as they deflected the impact. The entire ship shook violently, and sparks erupted from various consoles on the bridge. The sheer impact knocked the Tokyo to one side, causing her to list and veer off from her current course. Smaller asteroids began to impact the shields, causing yet more systems to be knocked around.

Several power conduits across the ship exploded as the Tokyo took a direct hit. Three of the ships shield generators overloaded causing the ship to shake and lurch as the shields continue to flicker from the impacts of the smaller asteroids.

[Starfighters]

"Holy shit..." Nozomi gasped as the fighters witnessed the impact from a safe distance.

Fubuki saw the impact on her screens. "That doesn't look good... Damn." she muttered to herself. "Snowflake to all Starfighters. Lets not let another asteroid, or chunk of anything through again! We can't risk the starships taking more hits like that!"

"I hope Rin is ok..." Len said to himself as he watched the chunk of diamond strike the Tokyo. Luckily the Tokyo had managed to get her back relatively safely, however he still couldn't help but worry about her. Especially after seeing the Tokyo take such a huge hit.

"We could use our tractor beams in pairs to move some of the asteroid chucks away from the ships." Anzhelina suggested.

"I, for one, second that idea," Nozomi agreed. "Snowflake, your orders?"

"Only if you have time to do so," Fubuki replied over the comm. "Don't take any unnecessary risks. If you can't blow it up or move it, then don't try. I want you all back and alive if possible." she added. "We've still got a Starbase on the other end of this to blow up remember..."

[Main Engineering]

Zach picked himself up off the floor quickly, looking over the Master Situation Monitor and opened the comm lines. "Repair team Alpha, report to the bridge," he said, sending Alexis' team to handle the damage there. "Repair teams Beta and Gamma, damage on decks seven and eight. Secure the shield generators and computer, and do not let them overload if the power surges again." His voice was still calm and steady, his Vulcan override still in full effect. He was privately thankful for it, as it helped him organise the damage priorities faster, and he had little doubt he would be quite worked up, otherwise.

As they shook again, the warp core's pitch changed as it strained with the power demands. "B'tal, monitor the core's power output and alert me if it goes above thirty percent over normal. Kirimi, monitor the power surges and shut down any sections that are in danger; let us see if we can keep ahead of the damage."

He began rerouting power around the damaged systems as the repair teams reported in, trying to keep the ship from sparking itself into a fire.

Syaro nodded, she didn't hesitate as she darted to the damage control panel. It was flashing yellow and red, with warnings splattered all over the chart of the ships power systems. "We've got several minor hull fractures, and the power surges blew out several EPS conduits across the grid." she replied quickly.

[Bridge]

Lieutenant Yuvek was thrown forward in his seat, his hands still gripping the controls as sparks erupted from overhead panels. Alarms screamed across the Bridge. He fought to regain control of the wildly listing carrier. The ship was veering off course, her momentum carrying her into the asteroid field she'd been trying to navigate. His hands worked methodically across the helm controls, applying reverse thrust to the port side while firing lateral thrusters to stop the ship's uncontrolled roll.

He felt the warp core's power output fluctuate as he fought to maintain control of the listing carrier. His console flickered as the engineering team began re-routing power around damaged systems, and for a moment, his manoeuvring thrusters went sluggish.

"Helm to Engineering, I'm losing thruster response on the port side," Lieutenant stated tersely. "How long before power stabilises?"

"Repair teams are currently en route," Zach's voice said. "We are attempting to stabilise output now. Full power will be restored shortly."

Thomas felt the blood trickle from his lip and nose... hitting the floor didn't do much for his looks. "I want status reports all depth, casualties, damage."

Lieutenant Yuvek's hands remained on the helm controls, his eyes fixed on the readouts as he assessed the damage through the ship's response to his inputs. His expression was not encouraging.

"Commander, propulsion systems are severely compromised," he reported, his voice tight with controlled frustration. "Port aft thrusters are running at 40 percent efficiency - the combination of pre-existing damage, the rotation manoeuvrer, and this impact has pushed them past acceptable tolerances. Starboard lateral thrusters are at 65 percent and fluctuating." Lieutenant Yuvek made a minor course correction, feeling the sluggish response through the controls. "Main impulse engines are holding at 70 percent output. The ship is responding, but she's limping. Any aggressive manoeuvrers are going to stress systems that are already at their limits."

The Cardassian continued to keep the ship steady while still reading the still-updating damage report. "Structural integrity is dropping across the starboard hemisphere - sitting between 78 and 82 percent. I'm getting minor drift compensation warnings across multiple sections. The impact created stress fractures in the main spine, and they're spreading."

The turbolift doors slid open and the four-man team of engineers rushed onto the bridge, the NCO at the head directing two of them to one panel that was still sparking while the fourth went to the security station which had gone dark, “I’ll have you up and going in a minute, Commander.” She remarked to Thomas as her tricorder gave her returns on water she had figured the major problem was, “Secondary power bus is overloading.” She made a beeline for a wall panel, unhooking it and placing it in the deck to get at the innards.

"Priority systems first. How's our weapons and shields." Thomas asked as he looked around the bridge.

Connor looked at the systems. "From what I see, we’ve lost main shields, port phaser array are fried, and we can't take much if they decide to attack now."

Thomas paused. "Contact the other ships, advise them of the situation... Tokyo needs to pull back, we can't go forward with this damage. Give the lead to the USS Armitage."

"Aye, falling back and ceding lead position to the Armitage," Lieutenant Yuvek said begrudgingly, already opening the fleet-wide communication channel.

"Tokyo to Armitage, we are experiencing critical damage to propulsion and weapons systems. Recommend you assume lead position for the assault. We're breaking formation now." He waited for the Armitage's acknowledgement before turning his attention to the delicate task of extracting the massive carrier from the coordinated formation without colliding with the other five ships moving in tight coordination around them.

"Reducing impulse to one-quarter," he announced, his movements deliberate and controlled. "Initiating starboard lateral thrust to create separation vector from the formation." The Tokyo began her slow slide out of position, pulling away from the Broadsword on her port side. Lieutenant Yuvek compensated constantly for the sluggish response of the damaged thrusters, each adjustment measured and precise.

"Clear of formation pattern," he reported as the gap widened between them and the other carriers. "Maintaining position behind the assault group. All ahead one-quarter impulse - steady course."
