Mission: Younger Years
Location: Somewhere Boldly.
Timeline: Timeline = Yes.

It was a normal routine, tedious morning aboard the Starship Tokyo in the year 2397. Everything was going to plan, the ship was travelling at a steady warp six, on course and everything was working. It was quiet, no explosions, no alarms, no immediate signs of danger or threat.

Captain Aisaka sat in her chair, one knee resting over the other as she idly flicked through a PADD containing different starus reports. The bridge itself was quiet and tranquil, a nice break from the usual chaos and hive of activity. In her other hand she held a fresh cup of coffe, exrra cream and sugar for the short heighted Captain.

"Oh how very boring!" A single voice suddenly said behind her.

Startled, Taiga looked back. There was a man whom she had never seen before. Black haor, brown eyes and a slender build. Strangely he was dressed in an older Starfleet Uniform, one that would have been most at home during the early days of Deep Space Nine and aboard the Starship Voyager. The red shoulders, purple undershirt with collar and black jumpsuit hadn't been seen since before the Dominion War, at least twenty years by now.

"Oh, you guys have a new style!" He said, clicking his fingers. In a flash of light not only was he now standing in front of Taiga, but now sported an upto date Command Uniform, four pips on his collar. "Ta da! What do you think? The white shoulders are a nice touch..."

"Who the hell are you?" Taiga demanded.

The man seemed hurt. "Captain, I'm disappointed. It hurts my feelings that you've never heard of me! I'm Q! And i saw your little ship and decided to come and play with you!"

"Q... Wait... The alien who used to annoy Captain Picard?" Taiga asked.

"Oh heavens no. Not that Q. I'm not as stupid as Q. But, I have taken a liking to you Humans so, how about it Captain? Want to play a little? You're not doing anything else..."

"And what if we say no?" The Second Officer asked, her hand moving cautiously towards her phaser.

"Oh my dear Chisato." Q said a grin came across his face. "You don't know your history do you..." raised his arm up into the air and snapped his fingers. Instantly they were all bathed in bright white light.

The bridge was suddenly very different. Gone was the sleek silver and grey consoles and oval layout. Instead they were on a circular, bright coloured bridge. The shiny black surfaces around the edges had various multi-coloured buttons and toggle switches. Various lights from all colours of the rainbow stuck out of these consoles. Not only had the bridge changed, but their uniforms too. A golden plaque next to the only door and access into the room read "U.S.S. Enterprise. Starship Class. San Francisco".

The bridge was filled with humming, the sound of something whirring on one of the consoles and a high pitched pinging that sounded like some sort of strange radar device. The crew had also been placed at their equivalent stations on this brightly coloured classic starship bridge.

"What the..." Taiga shuffled out of the bulky oversized center chair that stood in the direct center. The yellow dress style uniform showed her legs and her hair was also tied up in a bun. "Why am I in a dress?!"

"Maybe it's how he likes it?" Chisato speculated as she examined her own, scarlett-hued uniform. "Though, I must say, I look pretty cute in this dress..."

"Ah the golden years!" Q said. "Enjoy!" With another snap of his fingers he vanished.

Nezuko found herself in a red dress and sitting in a station with the word ‘Navigator’ printed on it. Gone was her PADD, replaced with a writing tablet and stylus, lacking any audio component. Thankfully she still had her rebreather.

She wrote in big letters on her tablet, WHAT IS A Q?

"An omnipotent being, who apparently has taken an interest in us." Taiga sighed. She reached up and tapped the emblem on her chest. "Aisaka to all hands..." she paused. The sound of her comm badge didn't beep, or chirp as it usually would. She tapped it again, then again. Eventually she was furiously smacking her own chest. "How do you make a call in this era?!" She exclaimed.

"I think it would be these things." Thomas replied as he walked over to the wall. "Old style communicator before they were attached to the uniforms. By the looks of it, it's before Kirks time, even before Archers."

"Oh, so it's just like one of those Rian Szmanski videos I like to watch in my free time!" Chisato exclaimed excitedly.

Taiga shook her head. "Does anyone have any idea of what we should be doing?".

"Usually the other Q likes to play a game. Lets determine where and when we are. Battle? Discovery. It was due to them, that we discovered the borg." Thomas replied.

"But this Q specifically stated that he wasn't the same Q that Picard encountered," Chisato pointed out. "So, that begs the question- what exactly does THIS Q want?"

A strange monotone digital style voice began to speak. Along with what sounded like shuffling as if it was being played on an ancient magnetic tape. "Warning. Klingon vesseks. Approaching. Warning."

"All hands... battle stations. From the timeline of this vessel, I'd say it's from a time where klingons are not our friendly neighborly types." Thomas replied as he looked at the bridge, being no centre seat, he took what was the tactical station. "Four klingon birds of prey approaching, locking on to the lead ship."

But nothing happened. No klaxons, no red lights, nothing. It was just quiet. "You did say Red Alert right?" Taiga asked as she had to climb back into the center chair. It was then she noticed the buttons on the arm, one for each alert status, one for the viewscreen and another... "What Pod?" She questioned outloud. She shrugged and pushed down the viewscreen button. It made a loud click as it was pushed and the small screen at the front kf the bridge came to life.

Four Klingon vessels were indeed approaching. But they weren't Birds of Prey at all. "Lets see..." Taiga said resting her chin between her thumb and forefinger. "Stocky rear hulls rectangle nacelles, thin neck, ball like front with a strange triangle section laid on it. Those aren't Birds of Prey... So they have to be...."

"D7s!" Chisato exclaimed in wide-eyed horror.

She stole a sideways glance at Thomas. "Are you sure you're reading that display correctly, Commander? There's a big difference between 4 Birds-Of-Prey and 4 D7s..."

"Force of habit captain, D7s haven’t been used in a century. Not expecting the D-7s."

"Commander..." Taiga said as she pressed the Red Alert button and turned to Chisato. She spotted the console behind her, clearly labelled 'COMMUNICATIONS'. She pointed at it, indicating for her Chief of Intel to take the station. "Hail them... or at least try to I guess?"

"On it," Chisato replied as she hopped into the Comms seat and donned a pair of headphones that were conveniently provided. "Now, if I remember what those videos taught me..."

The bridge crew watched with baited breath as Chisato twisted a seemingly nondescript dial, listening intently for anything that sounded like Klingon dialogue, before suddenly parking up.

"Holy crap, I got something!" She exclaimed. "And here Takina-Chan thought I was just wasting my time..."

The image of a strange looking tanned man appeared on the screen. No cranial ridges, with short black hair, piecing eyes and a shiny silver and black uniform. A sash hung over his shoulder complete with little tassels. "I have you today Kirk! Your Enterprise shall finally be..."

He stopped. "You're not Kirk! Who are you?"

Taiga blinked a few times in surprise. "Erm... I'm Captain Taiga Aisaka of the..."

The man laughed. "A woman! In the Captains chair!" He continued to laugh loudly "I knew The Federation was weak but this is just..."

"Just what?!" Taiga snapped back.

"It does not matter. Without Kirk, your precious Enterprise will easily be defeated. I only wish it would gave been Kirk, that would have made for a more exciting battle than some woman!"

"Wow, pardon my French, but what a Connard," Chisato grumbled. "Probably shouldn't have even bothered..."

Teneca sat silently at the Science Station. In her now teal blue skirt uniform, she felt a bit self-conscious that she was showing off her legs.

This evaporated when the Klingon ships appeared.

The Chief Science Officer looked down her scope. "I'm no tactical officer, but they look like D7 Battle Crusiers to me, Captain." She said.

Thomas mumbled a few words in klingon before. "The station is outdated, all I seen were klingon signatures before I realized what they actually were."

The turbolift doors swished open to reveal a very surprised looking Talia. She was dressed in a very short, long sleeved blue dress. “Can someone please tell me just what in the hell is going on?”

"Hmm... where do I start..." Chisato muttered, scratching the back of her neck. "How about some omnipotent being sending us back in time and placing us on the Enterprise right as they're about to engage a squadron of Klingons?"

She glanced over at Taiga. "Did I miss anything, Captain?"

Taiga didn't get any time to respond as the ship suddenly lurched hard to the left, throwing them out of their chairs. The Klingon ships on the viewscreen had opened fire, green bolts of disruptor fire striking the Constitution Class's shields.

"What I wouldn't already give for a seatbelt..." Chisato grumbled as she picked herself up off the cold steel floor.

Talia grabbed on where she could not wanting to be tossed from where she tossed. “This is going well.” She looked towards Thomas. “The children aren’t onboard I checked, they must still be aboard the ship.”

"Someone fire phasers in return!" Taiga called out. "We do have phasers right?"

“Damn right we do!” Talia nodded as she quickly dashed around in-front of Taiga and motioned to the control panel. “It’s here, phaser power is routed directly from the warp engines. You just need to take aim and fire.”

"Do it. Just enough to get them to back off a little!" Taiga ordered.

Talia took the opportunity to get stuck in demonstrating just how to do it as she did so. “This is going to be a rough shot, I’ve only ever seen the console before, never used it.”

{I can help!} Nezuko quickly signed to Talia. Despite what she thought a bridge layout should logically be, her navigation console and Jasad's helm station had phaser controls too. If Talia controlled a different gunnery station, then they might work together to accurately disable the enemy. She pushed down some rather solid physical buttons, and in a moment the phasers were aimed perfectly toward the lead D7's forward torpedo tube.

“Thank you Nezuko” Talia smiled warmly, who responded with a thumbs-up. “Let’s do this.” She hit the button hoping it worked the way she expected it to.”

There was a high pitched sound, as bright blue twin phaser beams erupted from under the saucer of the ship. They seemed to scrape across the Klingon ship, and suddenly it was pushed aside as if being repulsed or it had suffered a sudden change of course.

"Well..." Taiga said. "That was easy..."

There was another flash, as Q appeared once again. "You're so boring! You could have at least put up a better fight..." he whined.

"Are you done yet? This is getting tiring. We have stuff to do you know!" Taiga snapped back. "Just send us back already. We're not going to play anymore of your silly games!"

"Though, would you mind too terribly if I kept the dress?" Chisato asked.

Taiga shot a look at Chisato.

"But it's cute..." Chisato pouted.

Talia looked towards Q. “Enough of this silliness! I have children back on the ship that I need to get home to. Find your fun elsewhere!”

Q rolled his eyes. "Fine. I'll go annoy another crew! I heard there are plenty of other your Starfleet ships that love to play games. I wonder what the crew of the Ermiana are up to these days..." he clicked his fingers and they were all suddenly engulfed in bright white light.

The Tokyo crew found themselves back on their bridge, in their usual uniforms. All apart from Chisato who was still in the old uniform. "So... That happened..." Taiga said. "Lets... Carry on."
