Mission:
Warriors of Two Banners
Location: Ashok and Cirilla's Quarters on Starbase 43
Timeline: AFTER: Riko
ON:
Ashok lay in his bed, looking up at the ceiling. He didn't know what time it was, nor did he care. After putting Cirilla to bed, his mind was racing with thoughts. Some having to do with the Heralds and his encounters with them. Others had to do with Cirilla and how close she was to all the actions. Something Lieutenant Commander Johnson said to him in the Crew Lounge before his mission to extract the away team. How she wouldn't forgive herself if she sent her child away only for something to happen to him. There was no way to predict where or when these Heralds would strike, an enemy who could appear anywhere at anytime, certainly made it difficult to know where the safest place exactly was. Keeping Ciri close and putting faith in his fellow crewmates to keep her safe was still a gamble, but these people where taking the same chances as he was and knew the dangers ahead. He was stronger, but not strong enough to carry it all on his back. Ash had to be willing to release some of that weight to those willing to carry it for him.
The chime of the comlink, alerting him to an incoming communications. As Ash got up, he could hear slight noises coming from his daughters room. No doubt it was her baby Targ, being startled by the noise and preparing itself for a fight. The Klingon let out a slight scoff as he sat down, looking towards the screen, noticing the insignia wasn't Starfleet. It was Klingon. As he tapped on the console, opening the channel, he saw a Klingon in a KDF Uniform.
"Lieutenant Colonel Ashok? Son of General Norath of the same House?" The Klingon said in an almost irritated tone.
"Yes. I am Ashok." He replied in his deep tone, as he narrowed his eyes at the Klingon on the screen. "Is there a reason why you are contacting me this late, Commander?"
"I am Lieutenant Commander Rel'osh, Communications Officer on board the IKS SuvwI' 'etlh." Rel'osh replied with a grunt. "By order of my Captain, Captain Koll, I am to inform you that you are to prepare to depart for the homeworld by orders of the Klingon High Council and your Starfleet Command."
Ashok leaned back in his seat. He knew the SuvwI' 'etlh very well. It was his fathers ship, long before he relinquished it to take a position by the High Counsel. After that, it when to his older brother, Koll. The SuvwI' 'etlh's current Captain. "Send me the orders, Commander Rel'osh."
Rel'osh tapped on his console and sent the file over, revealing to Ashok that his orders were to assemble a small team to train some Klingon Defense Force Officers in tactics on how to handle the Iconian threat. The SuvwI' 'etlh was to bring him home, to Qo'noS, where his Marines would train the Officers.
"How long do I have till the SuvwI' 'etlh arrives at the Station?" Ashok asked.
"Two days. That will be enough time for you to get your team together and handle anything that you need to finish before departing." The Klingon responded firmly.
"Very well... my daughter-" Ash began, but was quickly cut off.
"Arraignments for your daughter have already be taken into account, by the Captain. The SuvwI' 'etlh has been ordered to remain, in orbit, should you and your team require quarters." Rel'osh said as he crossed his arms over his chest. "Your daughter will not come to harm while she is on board. Captain Koll will se to it, Colonel."
Ashok looked at the man firmly. He wanted Cirilla safe, something he trusted his brother to do, but he was still concerned over how she would be treated because of her half heritage. She was still half Romulan, which was a race that has seen many battles with the Klingon Empire, so there was still a lot of bad blood. Not to mention, he knew all too well of how Klingons often treated Klingon hybrids. The purists of the pure blooded Klingons often looked down on half breeds, regardless of what race it was. In some cases, Cirilla, could be seen as tainted which only made the House of Norath just as tainted.
"I wish to speak to Captain Koll. Get me your Captain, Commander Rel'osh." Ash said firmly, clenching his fist as he placed it on the desk. He leaned in towards the screen, bearing his teeth.
"The Captain is occupied, Colonel." Rel'osh countered, smirking, as he leaned in towards the screen. "You may speak to him when he arrives. Until then, get your people and affairs in order. SuvwI' 'etlh Out." The screen suddenly flickered off as the typical United Federation of Planets insignia appeared.
Ashok slammed his fist on the desk, shouting a Klingon obscenity, before leaning back hard into his chair. He let out another growl, as he heard the swish of a door open.
Just then, Cirilla came out of her room, which allowed Hur'q to rush out and slid on the floor when attempting to stop. The small thud of the baby Targ hitting a wall wasn't enough to stop it from regaining its posture and standing at attention. It's head darted back and forth around the room, searching for an intruder.
"That's enough, Hur'q." Ciri said softly, sounding exhausted as he leaned down to pick up her small friend, before looking over to her father. "Daddy?" She asked before letting out a yawn. "Is everything okay?"
Ash looked over to her and smiled. "Yes, Sweetie." He said as he stood up. "Daddy just got sent some new orders. They want Daddy to bring a team to Qo'noS to show some Klingons how to fight these new bad people. So, you and me and Hur'q are going to the home worlds to teach them. What do you think?"
"Will I get to see Grandpa and Grandma and Great Grandma Keyra?" Ciri asked softly.
"Maybe." Ashok replied, keeping to his smile. "You know who else you are gonna meet? Your Uncle Koll. Daddy's older brother. His ship is gonna come pick us up and drop us off. What do you think of that? You haven't seen him since you were a baby."
Cirilla smiled slightly, holding onto Hur'q, as the Targ was calming down from being in her arms. She looked up at her father and yawned again. "Is he nice?"
Ashok was immediately reminded of the amount of times Koll push him around. Always competing with him and toughening him up. He was one of the ones that was the most disappointed when Ashok left the KDF Academy. However, he also remembered his softer side. The way his brother always stood up for him and was quick to take action if something happened to Ash or any of his other siblings. A part of him knew that, despite her heritage, Koll would treat his niece like she was the most important thing in the world.
"Of course, Kiddo. You're gonna love him." Ash said, as he walked around the table, placing his hand on her head as he approached her. "Come on, let's get you and Hur'q back to bed." He said softly as he began to walk with her to her room.
