Much Much Needed Leave (Backpost)

Mission: The Return
Location: Quarters
Timeline: Before Current mission

Thomas walked out of his in-quarters office. He had been awaiting word from the Iroquois and the news finally came. They did make it out, however high casualties. Now, he was going to try and relax, and take much needed time off, although he had tried to rescind his leave, but the Captain had insisted that it might be the last chance to get it, at least for a while.

"Well the news finally came, the iroquois made it though they lost a lot of crew." Thomas replied as he placed a bag on the couch.

“That’s good news in some ways, but not so good in others” Talia offered as she brought her bag out of the bedroom. She was looking forward to getting away for their honeymoon at long last.

"Kind of makes you wonder." Thomas paused before he took the bag from her. Turning to Nezuko, "When we come back, we will need to be moved to bigger quarters, with Tahuna moving in she will need ample space for adjustment." He paused, "Something else as well, which I will discuss with both you and talia when we get back."

“Oh?” Talia gave her husband a curious look. “No good me asking what it’s about now then?”

"Well, with the baby coming, and Tahuna moving in, I thought it would be best to move into a bigger accomodations. Perhaps have Nezuko next door, with direct access to our quarters via a door which avoids having to come through the corridors."

“I don’t mind that” Talia smiled. “Just as long as Nezuko doesn’t feel like she’s being put upon helping us. Things will obviously change having Tahuna with us, we’ll have to find a whole new way of spending private time together. Plus explain to Tahuna about how our relationship works.”

Nezuko nodded. She loved having her own space but there was no issue with it being close by. It permitted her to help but also gave her freedom to do as she needed for herself. {No burden. It will take time to alter my new quarters to accommodate my air supply. Perhaps...} She thought a moment before taking out her PADD and bringing up a deck plan. She highlighted a small section of rooms elsewhere on the deck, specifically a pair of Guest/VIP quarters which were unoccupied and larger than anything they were already in, along with a storage room between them.

{It may be unsafe for Tahuna, or your baby, in my quarters, but I want to be helpful. Consider.}

She stopped signing to use the touchscreen to erase and move between the two sets of rooms and then set the PADD down to show Talia and Thomas.

{This layout would give you quarters with a larger common area and three bedrooms, for you two, for Tahuna, and for baby. I would be next door, with an adjoining door. For safety, this chamber can act as an airlock, so neither child can accidentally come into my room.}

“I never thought about that, so that’s a wonderful idea” Talia nodded and smiled. “Plus we can set up computer routines to prevent accidental entry through the door, especially once our baby starts crawling.”

"Of course, I don't want it to feel like its something any of us are pressured into." He replied turning to Nezuko. "Maybe its just me worrying, being a first time father, or wanting to be closer to everyone we love. Its hard for me to explain."

{Not a bad thing to worry,} she signed. {You will both be good, loving parents. I do not feel pressured. I do not want to be a parent, at least not now, but I am happy to be there to help you sometimes. Which is why I am not offering to move in, but proximity could be helpful, especially in an emergency.}

“I’ll feel better knowing that the extra help is there if, and when, I need it.” Talia smiled. “I’ll admit I’m nervous about being a mum to both Tahuna and and our baby, but I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

"Plus, it gives us oportunities to have adult time while someone watches over the kids. Finding someone to take care of them when we all want to take part will be a little bit more... requiring another person."

{Thomas, you know that children sleep, right?} Nezuko teased. {We all three can be playing in your room while baby and Tahuna are asleep. Lock the door to prevent walk-ins, and stop if a child needs someone.} She grinned and shook her head. {Parents have been having sex while their kids have been asleep for generations. How do you think Little Siblings get made?} She took her respirator out to kiss him.

Kissing her back. "I guess I am overthinking. Its strange I can face a horde of hostile aliens but a child..."

“It’s going to be a whole new way of living for all of us” Talia added. “We didn’t plan a family so soon, but we’ve got one and we’ll learn how to work things out.”

"We've figured 'us' out. Kids aren't that complicated. So I think we will be good." Thomas agreed

Talia smiled and nodded in agreement. “It’s just like a new adventure.”

{An adventure I am happy to be part of,} added Nezuko.

{Anyway, we are off... Next vacation we take, you will be coming with us Nezuko. If you would like of course.} Thomas replied as he walked over to the suitcases.

Nezuko waved goodbye, blew them each a kiss, and hurried out first, so the couple could lock up behind them.
